It’s always exciting to get a peep into the lives of our favorite stars. Thanks to the internet and social media, that’s an experience we often get to enjoy. No points for guessing when Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt launched her very own YouTube channel, the views were off the roof. From her travels and skincare routine to what her work days are like, she gave a generous peek at her life behind the scenes. While I relished watching her content, I am a little extra grateful for one particular video of hers.

In the said vlog, Alia takes us through a list of things she likes to eat on a day-to-day basis, shows us her kitchen, and introduces us to her house manager and personal chef. Then she goes on to share the recipes of two of her favourite dishes. They are both tasty as well as healthy – chia pudding and beetroot salad. Even though she refers to it as ‘salad’, I call it raita because of the desi tadka that goes into it, and love gorging on it with my lunch plates quite often.

It’s quite delicious and as beetroot is a great vegetable to include in your daily diet, this could be a nice sneaky way to add it to your kids’ meals! Beetroots are anti-inflammatory and are packed with a lot of nutrients.

Betroot

A lot of you must be already acquainted with the recipe, but in case you aren’t, here’s how you can make this tasty Beetroot Raita.

Ingredients:

1. Grated beetroot

2. Hung curd/yogurt

3. Salt and pepper to taste

4. Mustard seeds

5. Asafoetida/Hing

6. Cumin seeds

7. Chat masala

8. Curry leaves

Here’s how to make it:

Peel two beetroots. Boil them until a tad soft. Let them cool down and then grate them. Add the grated beetroot into a bowl with some hung curd on top. Mix, mix, mix, and then, sprinkle a pinch of salt, pepper, and chaat masala.

For the tadka, heat a pan and put any edible oil of your choice (I use rice bran). Once the oil is hot, add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds, little thing, and some curry leaves. Pour it into the beetroot-yogurt mix. Garnish with some chopped fresh coriander leaves if you like.

Remember to savour every bite of it!
